How do I check close dated items?

Checking close dated items will be very similar to checking expired items with a few more steps. First make sure to choose the close dated bar on the top left (if using web) or bottom (if using app)

Next, go to the department or aisle you would like to start in. If you do not know that number of the aisle you are in check underneath the top shelf for a sticker, and it will tell you where you are. If you would only like to work in a specific department or aisle, be sure to choose that location in the dropdowns on the left side of the screen

Once you have decided where to start date checking choose the first item on your list.

The first question you will be prompted with is if there are any items with this specific date. Make sure to take every item off the shelf and check the dates. If you find an item with this date, be sure to click yes. If not, click no.

If yes, you will then be prompted with how many are left on the shelf. Input how many are left and then you will be told what to do with the product.

Once you input the number of items with that date you will be given a few different prompts. This first prompt will tell you to rotate all the items with that date to the front of the shelf and click finish. Our software will consider how many of those items your store sells and if you can sell it by that expiration date.

The next prompt will be different depending on your store.

Each company has different standards and will therefore have different instructions.  These can include, but are not limited to, rotating the product to the front of the shelf at full price, marking items down in place with a coupon or replacement barcode, or pulling items from the shelf to be placed in a markdown area of the store.

Each of these will be accompanied by different wording and below are some examples of what you might see.

If you see this screen, you should be rotating the close dated items to the front of the shelf so they sell before they are expired.

If you see this screen, markdown the items and then rotate to the front of the shelf.

If you see this screen, mark down the items and move them to a markdown area/ clearance section. So that these items will be sold, but the customer understands that they are close to expiring.

If no, you will then be prompted to input the next closest date that is on the shelf. Be sure to use the format XX/XX/XX. Click submit date and you are all set!

If there are no items with that UPC on the shelf click Out of Stock. If there is no location on the shelf for this item, click discontinued. You must be 100% sure that items are discontinued to click this button.
