What are close dated items?
Close Dated Items are those items that are approaching their expiration date, but are not expired. Items are listed in this category because there is an opportunity to take action to ensure that as many items are used as possible. As with expired items, the number of days prior to expiry, at which action must be taken, is determined at the corporate level. As a result, the number and types of Close Dated Items can differ by location and department.
Date Check Health will make smart decisions for you, based on the movement data for the items at your location. If the best decision is to try and use Close Dated Items prior to expiration, the program will tell you to rotate those items to the front of the shelf and place a USE FIRST sticker on each item. If the best decision is to move some of the items to a different department, in order to maximize the chance that they are used, the program will give you those instructions instead. If the best decision is to seek a refund, or resell items to the vendor, the program will direct the user to begin this process.
It is possible to customize the steps taken when checking Close Dated Items. To customize these settings, it is necessary to contact the Date Check Pro team.
