What are our options to move close dated items?
There are three basic options that locations have to move items, and we have highlighted those and their benefits below. If you would like to change your settings, we recommend contacting the Date Check Pro team to make sure that Date Check Pro is updated properly and the location has all of the necessary tools to be successful through your transition.
Rotating Items - A common way to try and use close dated merchandise is to simply place items on the front of the shelf, mark them with "USE FIRST" tags, and use them during normal routines. In an ideal situation, rotating should be enough to ensure that short dated items are used first.
Item Transfer - Companies with multiple locations can benefit from transferring excess short-dated items to other locations. Rotating these items to the front, marking them with "USE FIRST" tags, and utilizing the items at alternate locations will drastically reduce shrink. Commonly used items, like bandages and lab testing supplies can be transferred to alternate departments. Following the rotation process in the new location will ensure shrink is minimized.
Consignment and Resale - Many suppliers offer consignment or buyback programs that will allow your locations to minimize dollars lost on expired and short dated product.
